Legendary Actor Dharmendra Passes Away at 89; Bollywood Mourns the Loss of Its ‘He-Man’

Indian movies just got a little dimmer. The legendary Dharmendra, often called Bollywood’s tough guy, died Monday at 89 in his home city of Mumbai. Relatives said he’d been sick recently. His health had taken a turn for the worse over the last several weeks.
Dharmendra, set to turn 90 next month, departs with a film legacy few can match in depth or feeling. His journey stretched past sixty years over three hundred movies and yet he stayed a beloved name across generations.Though time passed, his impact didn't fade,instead it grew stronger through the stories he brought to life. Not many reached that kind of status without chasing fame or flashing trends. He simply showed up, performed honestlyand let the work speak.
Private Funeral Held in Mumbai
The actor's cremation happened at Pawan Hans in Juhu Monday night. One after another, relatives, friends from work, along with fans came by to say goodbye. Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, his kids, carried out the rites.

Dharmendra shot into stardom during the '60s, quickly turning into a top draw for Bollywood movies. Whether it was love stories or full-throttle action flicks, he smashed records with hits like Sholay, Satyakam, Phool Aur Patthar, Seeta Aur Geeta, Dharam Veer.
